The purpose of this training program is to prepare and equip selected (pastor approved) individuals and couples for a ministry of teaching, educating and counseling in biblical financial principles and budgeting. This program and training is designed to aid individuals and the local church leadership to quickly establish an active and vibrant financial ministry. Teaching facilitators and budget counselors enhance the other seminars, workshops, studies and resources available in order to more effectively minister to the whole congregation, and also reach out into the community. The goal is to help create and facilitate a complete financial ministry program and active volunteer lay-team within the local church.

Training Criteria:

To be determined between Barnabas and the church pastor(s) and church leaders. Basic training preparation include attending our seminars and workshops, and by completing assigned self-study materials. Church leadership can decide individual waivers for people who already understand and apply principles of stewardship and budgeting. The final training step is to attend a scheduled budget counselor and team development workshop.

Final Team Development Workshop Format:

A live, on-campus, hands-on weekend workshop; which will include instruction, training, counseling techniques, application and mentoring. Time is also allocated for planning out the goals and financial ministry calendar for the coming year. More than one church can team together to schedule and capitalize on a localized training weekend. With this “private label” workshop we can arrange many different variations, formats and hosting criteria.

Workshop Schedule:

A recommended 10 hours is needed for this on-site workshop of training, role playing, addressing and resolving attendee and team member questions, concerns and initial fears (of teaching and/or counseling). Experience has shown that a Friday/Saturday format works well. However, we are flexible to try to accommodate individual church goals and needs.

Hosting Criteria:

The church covers all expenses and compensates Barnabas with an agreed upon fee for the training. Churches can choose to offset the workshop costs by having the attendees pay a training and workshop registration fee. This is the course many churches choose and works well for most everyone involved.
